CHRIS BUCCINI
Buccini/Pollin Group

One of the most important announcements in the City of Wilmington in recent history came last June when The Buccini/Pollin Group announced that it was purchasing the landmark Delaware Trust Building with the intent of renovating it into 276 upscale apartments.

The announcement meant not only that the Delaware Trust Building would be saved following the devastating 1997 fire and the subsequent battle between the insurer and the owner, Didimoi Property Holding, but also, that Center City Wilmington was thriving enough to support additional residential development.

When, in February 1999, the DuPont Company announced that it had sold the Nemours, Brandywine, and Tatnall Buildings to Barrow Street Capital and Chase Capital Partners who, in turn, were teaming with The Buccini/ Pollin Group to renovate the Brandywine Building into upscale office space and the Nemours Building into upscale apartments, and raze the Tatnall Building to build a 665-space parking garage, the skeptics had a field day. Residential in Wilmington? The 85 furnished apartments in the Nemours Building were fully leased within 45 days, and Buccini/Pollin had more than 100 requests for unfurnished apartments! To date, over 50 individuals and companies have put their names on the list of prospective tenants in the former Delaware Trust Building, renamed, Residences at Rodney Square.

The Buccini/Pollin Group is a full-service real estate acquisition, development, and management company with offices in Wilmington, New York City, and Alexandria, Virginia. Its affiliates include PM Hospitality Strategies Inc, BPGS Construction LLC, BPG Real Estate Services LLC, and BPG Real Estate Partners LLC.

Christopher Buccini, a managing principal of the Buccini/Pollin Group has overseen the acquisition, redevelopment and development of over $350 million of real estate investments in the past four years, including two hotels, five office buildings, three parking garages, and the redevelopment of two apartment buildings.
