New Castle County Council President Paul Clark

New Castle County Council President Paul Clark with
President Diane Boc
and Executive Director Beverley Baxter
Paul Clark gets it. He understands that a healthy economy is essential to the quality of life which so many New Castle County citizens say they want. He understands, as well, that it is concerned citizens who go to the polls to elect their Council members.
During his campaign for New Castle County Council President, Paul wrote, "We must remember that in the quality of life equation, the ability to attract and retain jobs and provide an environment where businesses that provide these jobs can flourish must be considered as part of the equation."
His challenge now, as Council President, is working with the community, other members of Council, the Administration, and government agencies to get that balance in the equation.
Paul brings a range of experiences to his role as Council President which lend weight to his balanced approach.
He has over two decades of business experience, with nearly 15 of those as Store Manager of the Christiana Boscov's. At the same time, he's Past President of the Tri-Woods Civic Association and member of the Delaware Nature Education Society, Greater Hockessin Area Development Association (GHADA), Civic League of New Castle County, and Pike Creek Civic League.
In addition, after seven years as Vice Chair of the New Castle County Board of Adjustment, Paul has seen firsthand how the Unified Development Code, while attempting to protect the community, can, at the same, time, hamper economic development.
Paul will share with us the challenges facing the County--including dealing with the upcoming revenue shortfall, providing sewer in Southern New Castle County, enabling redevelopment, and implementing the new Comprehensive Plan--and how he sees them being addressed.
