Arkadi Kuhlmann
If you're an ING Direct customer and need
to have your hand held, you might get “fired.”
But if you're comfortable banking online and don't need a
lot of attention, you'll get some of the best rates available.
With a motto of “Lead America Back
to Saving,” ING Direct USA now has 2 million savers
(joining 10 million in Canada, Australia, France, Spain, Italy,
the United Kingdom, and Germany) who want to keep it simple,
banking online or by phone.
ING Direct USA's success has been Wilmington's
success, as well. With an important presence on the Christina
waterfront in the former Berger Brothers furniture warehouse,
as well as on I-95 in the former Chase Building, ING Direct
USA has played a significant role in the revitalization of
the City.
Arkadi Kuhlmann joined ING Group in June
1996 as President and CEO to start up the ING Direct Initiative
in Canada. On December 1, 1999, he was appointed Chairman
and CEO of ING Bank, fsb, operating as ING Direct USA, and
launched ING Direct at www.ingdirect.com
in September 2000.
ING Direct USA is backed by ING, a global
financial institution of Dutch origin offering banking, insurance,
and asset management to over 60 million private, corporate,
and institutional clients in more than 50 countries. ING employs
over 112,000 people in 65 countries, including more than 11,000
in the US.
With a US staff of just 1,000 serving its
2 million US customers, ING Direct USA is lean, but definitely
not mean. Its contributions to the community include Planet
Orange Teachers Resource Center, which gives teachers a resource
at orangekids.com/trc
to include money management in their teaching, and ING Direct
Kids Foundation, established to improve the quality of life
of children and adolescents, especially those in foster care.
ING Direct USA contributed $1 million to Blitz Build, Habitat
for Humanity of New Castle's largest project.
Arkadi Kuhlmann will speak not only about
the growth of ING Direct USA, but also, his plans for its
future and its place in Delaware and US banking.
